Hello, Wolf Pack Families!

With springtime arriving, cherished spring traditions await, more closely, for our Wolfpack community members.  Kindergarten orientation unfolds at 5:30PM on Thursday, April 30 in-person at the school as we look to welcoming the newest and youngest members of our Wolfpack young people.  School Council is coordinating a spring garden clean-up for 12:40PM on Friday, May 22 and hosting a Family Hot Dog Day following dismissal on Friday, June 5.  Even Sports Day currently set for Friday, June 19, will be here before we know it.

Classrooms are at active, engaged spaces right now, as well. With routines well established and foundational learning more securely in place, students are increasingly demonstrating more complex, collaborative, and creative learning expressions and experiences. Teaching grade teams (and cross-grade team) have been continually collaborating, reflecting, and planning together to respond to student needs and strengths, ensuring that our learning momentum continues and that the 2025–26 school year finishes strong.

Inform | Homeroom Placement for 2026-27

At Queen Elizabeth School, students are placed into homerooms using a thoughtful and collaborative process.

Placements are based on several factors, including:

  • Class size, ensuring a similar number of students in each homeroom within a grade level.
  • Balanced classroom composition, developed by educator professionals through careful consideration of many factors, including:
    • the learning needs of individual students, and
    • social-emotional considerations, such as how students learn and work together.

Our teaching and administrative teams work diligently and collaboratively to create an organizational structure that ensures:

  • students are grouped purposefully by educator professionals, and
  • balanced homeroom classrooms, where:
    • students are not streamed into ability-based groups, and
    • each homeroom sections provide equitable and parallel learning experiences

If you have relevant information about your child(ren)’s learning needs that may specifically relate to 2026-27 homeroom placement, please:

  • e-mail Travis Robertson (Principal) at tjrobertson@cbe.ab.ca :
    • Please use the same e-mail address you have registered with My CBE / PowerSchool.
    • You may choose to cc your child(ren)’s current homeroom teacher(s).
    • Please use the subject line: inform | 2026-27 homeroom placement

Please ensure we are contacted, via e-mail, by 4PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Please note that we are not able to accept/accommodate requests for specific teachers nor for placement with specific peers or friends

Regrets | Fred Fox Visit/Assembly Postponed

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our visit with Fred Fox will not be able to occur on the previously scheduled day of April 28.

From the Terry Fox Foundation, “This decision was not made lightly and comes with great disappointment. Fred is tremendously saddened with this outcome... Having the opportunity to speak and connect with youth is incredibly meaningful for Fred and the School Run team, and as soon as he is able, we will reach out again to reschedule this event.”

Upcoming | April 21 School Council & Parent Society

Please join us on the school stage for our next 6:30 PM School Council meeting.  This meeting is followed by QES’ Parent Society discussions.  Our Grade 4 team will be providing a classroom update to start off this month’s meeting.

Gratitude | QES’ Got Talent

Enormous thanks to Ms. Chan and to Mr. Tinaburri for their leadership for this week’s student talent shows. Enormous thanks to our student ‘tech’ helpers, and to each staff member for their support and assistance with rehearsals, transitions, and performances.  Each of your efforts are very valued by our Wolfpack community.

Reminder | Appeals and Appeals Day

Any questions relating to assessment and reporting are best addressed, initially, with your child(ren)’s teacher.  Our school administration remains available as follow-up support, should you feel the issue remains unresolved.

Parents are welcome to appeal decisions that significantly impact their child's education, including final marks, on Appeals Day:

  • Monday, June 29 from 9:00 to 11:45 AM.
  • Appeals must be based on valid educational grounds. For more information on the process and your rights, please refer to the Calgary Board of Education's Administrative Regulation 5008 – Appeals.

Any appeals made for the 2025-26 school year mut be made before 11:45AM on Monday, June 29, 2026,
