Hello, Wolf Pack Families!
Our first more significant snowfall has arrived creating a whole new winter world on our school grounds. Thank you for ensuring our young people arrive with layers as outdoor conditions are changing not just day-by-day, but hour-by-hour. Thank you, too, for adjusting routines related to pick-ups and drop-offs within weather conditions, allowing yourself time and space for safe and peaceful arrivals and departures from our school grounds.
Staff and students are actively preparing for conference conversations at the end of next week. Each year this is such a valued opportunity for the home-front and the school-front to come together to better understand where students are at within current learning and to consider possibilities and next-steps together.
Thank you, too, to our invaluable volunteers as we re-engage with more activities. From our first field trip (Grade 4’s to The Confluence), to school photos, to our earlier fun lunch today, to our incredible Council and Society... know that each of your contributions are incredibly valued (and make opportunities possible!).
Update | Teacher Staffing
After receiving our updated fall budget allocation on Tuesday, November 18 (within our annual Resource Allocation Model, or RAM, processes), we have received approval to hire a 0.8 FTE teacher from December 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 based on our fall student count.
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Nasiba Barakatshah to our teaching team. Ms. Barakatshah will be working primarily with our Grade 1 students alongside our current Grade 1 teaching team, Ms. Joy Coutts and Ms. Lana Kerr. The decision to have our Grade 1’s receive the majority of this mid-year support is based on both current class size numbers as well as the unique needs/demands of early learners.
Reminder | Student Illnesses
We know attendance decisions are often difficult as families aim to prioritize learning and usual routines.
Reminders relating to General Health Measures are available, here, including:
- In all matters of health, CBE takes direction from Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services. The following health measures can reduce the spread and lessen the impact of illness in school communities. These include:
- stay home when feeling sick;
- if possible, avoid close contact with people who are sick.
As we monitor attendance and illness trends, please ensure the school is notified of absences (and whether or not those absences relate to illness) prior to any school absence.
Reminder | Individual Program Plans (IPPs)
As a reminder, if you did not yet receive a finalized version of your child’s IPP prior to the teacher strike, please know that our system has extended the deadline for teachers to complete documents and review them with families until November 28. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher, directly.
Reminder | Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences
As a reminder, in-person conferences will be held the evening of Thursday, November 27 and the morning of Friday, November 28. Mark your calendars. Information and instructions for sign-up (via My CBE) were e-mailed to each parent on Wednesday, November 19. See our Parent-Teacher Conference page for instructions.
- Thursday, Nov. 27: School Conferences from 4:30pm to 7:30pm
- Friday, Nov. 28: School Conferences from 8:30am to 1:30pm - No School for Students on this day
Gratitude | Remembrance Day Activities
I would like to, again, express appreciation to our music specialist Ms. Fion Chan for leading this year’s events alongside our Assistant Principal, Mr. Dan Tinaburri. Our staff has ensured a very meaningful Ceremony within related learning opportunities about Remembrance. We are very proud of our emcees, choir, volunteers, and those who provided meaningful artwork/poetry/writing to set the tone for ceremony attendees.
