Wolfpack Weekly

Hello, Wolfpack Families!

Following World Teachers' Day and ahead of the long weekend and Thanksgiving, this feels like a fitting time to pause and reflect on (and express!) gratitude. We remind ourselves that we are in this together.  Researcher Dr. Brené Brown describes gratitude not simply as a feeling, but as a practice, something we do intentionally and regularly. As we move through a season that requires some continual adjustment, with darker mornings, cooler temperatures, and perhaps even our first snowfall on the horizon, it can be reassuring to notice and appreciate the amazing people that support us along the way and allow us to recognize special moments.

This week Mr. Tinaburri and I are dividing time, with office responsibilities and, to be with our Grade 6 staff/students at Outdoor School at Camp Chief Hector. Each year, this experience remains one of the most important and cherished milestones of the Grade 6 experience at QES. For many students, Outdoor School is a chance to build confidence, deepen friendships, embrace new challenges and environments, and create memories that last long after their elementary years have ended.

As always, thank you for your ongoing partnership and support.

Your Proud Principal,
Travis Robertson

Reminder | Crosswalk Construction Update

Thank you to all families for your patience, understanding, and flexibility as construction continues on the new pedestrian crossing in front of our school. A detailed update and map were emailed to families on Monday, October 5.

As a reminder, safety must come first. Students and families cannot access closed sidewalks nor enter active construction areas on the street. Construction crews have fenced off closed entrances and pathways to help reinforce these safety requirements.

The only open access route to our school grounds, Kindergarten doors, and bicycle/scooter parking remains the pathway located between Queen Elizabeth School and Queen Elizabeth High School, north of our school building. While this route may not appear obvious at first glance, it adds very little extra distance as a detour.

Thank you for continuing to allow a little extra time at drop-off and pick-up as we work through these temporary changes. Your cooperation is helping keep everyone safe while this important improvement is completed.

Celebrate | World Teachers Day (Oct 5)

This past Monday marked World Teachers' Day, an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the educators who support, encourage, challenge, and care for students each day. We are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated teaching team at Queen Elizabeth School, and we remain grateful for the difference they make in the lives of children and families.

Optional | Friday, October 30

Students and staff are invited to wear costumes that allow for safe and free movement on Friday, October 30 (and/or to wear orange or black).

We remind students and families: no masks, no weapons nor weapon replicas, and no costumes that impede safe movement on stairs (i.e. no inflatables).  If in doubt, please check with your child(ren)’s teacher ahead of time.

Inform | School Council & Parent Society

Families are invited to attend our School Council and Parent Society meetings on Tuesday, October 27, beginning at 6:30 PM.

Meetings take place on the stage, with childcare provided on-site (by School Council). The Parent Society meeting follows School Council, and this month our Grade 6 team will kick off our monthly meeting, sharing highlights relating to Personal Growth, and celebrating time at Outdoor School.
