Hello, Wolf Pack Families!

Now, further into our new calendar year, exciting planning gets underway to ensure 2026-27 gets off to a successful start, while ensuring 2025-26 finishes strong. Kindergarten registration opened on Monday, and registrations are steadily arriving to us, ready to be welcomed. This is an exciting milestone each school year. While registrations are not first-come-first-served, early registrations do assist us in our planning efforts, so please ‘spread the word’.

Meaningful learning continues to unfold across our school’s learning spaces. At our upcoming School Council meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 PM our Grade 6 teachers look forward to providing a learning update to start our discussion. Enormous thanks to each of you for each of your efforts and contributions that have continued to have made 2025-26 all it can be!

Reminder | Lost and Found

While we have only been back one week and a bit, our lost-and-found bins are filling up a little quicker than usual.

Lost-and-found items are on display in our foyer, and staff have been ‘touring’ the display this week hoping to get items returned to owners. Please encourage your child(ren) to look at displayed items for anything familiar.

Inform | Provincial Achievement Tests

In May and June of each school year, Grade 6 (and 9) students across the province participate in the Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) using the Digital Assessment Platform (Vretta). Typically, students complete PATs in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

Queen Elizabeth School (alongside each CBE school) is implementing the new Grade 6 Social Studies curriculum this year. Therefore, we will not be administering the Grade 6 Social Studies PAT in 2025-26. Grade 6 Math, English Language Arts and Literature (ELAL), Science will be administered and will reflect the new curriculum.

Results from these tests will provide Alberta Education, school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, students and the public with information about what students know and can do in relation to provincial standards at the end of Grade 6.

Provincial Achievement Tests are based on what students have been learning throughout the school year, so they will be marked by teachers before they are returned to Alberta Education in June. A Quick Facts for Parents/Guardians is available on the Provincial Achievement Tests website, including a detailed schedule

School staff share preliminary results with parents after the PAT administration. Individual Student Profiles (ISPs) are available to schools in the fall of the following school year. School staff (once students are in Grade 7) then share the ISPs with parents or parents can access results directly using myPass. A record of the ISP will be retained electronically in the student record. This profile is prepared by Alberta Education after the marking and scoring of tests has been completed and the final scores are calculated; it will present your child’s performance on each test in relation to provincial standards.

Parents/Guardians are invited to our annual October School Council Meeting to discuss the results at that time.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child(ren)’s teacher and/or our front office.
