Hello, Wolf Pack Families!

This will be our final weekly update for 2025.

With that, “Winter Solstice is a time for celebration and reflection; a time for bringing people together, for thinking about the challenges that we’ve faced and overcame, and how we will bring forward what we’ve learned into the new year with intention for good things (Elder Saa’kokoto, Winter Solstice 2023)”.

Winter:

  • Ipkssaisstoyiu (in Blackfoot),
  • Zask’a (in Tsuut’ina),
  • Wanidu (in Stoney Nakoda),
  • L’ivayr (in Métis).

As we look ahead to 2026, we can be so proud of each of our efforts to start 2025-26 off, including our Food Drive efforts now well underway.  While we still have some time until Winter Break, I do want to wish each of you—at this “time for celebration and reflection—an incredibly safe and enjoyable holiday season.  It has been such a joy getting to meet each of you and getting to dive into such an incredible school and community.

-Travis

Ongoing | QES’ Wolf Pack Food Drive

From December 8 (Mon.) to December 17 (Weds.), we are gathering as many donations for the Calgary Food Bank as possible.  The Calgary Food Bank publishes an ongoing wish list (including items that can/cannot be accepted) as well a seasonal holiday wish list as donation contributions are considered.  Donation boxes—all set to receive any donations—are be in our main foyer, with our staff team ready to assist.  Thank you to our contributors who have already made an early start in filling our foyer train car boxes!

Upcoming | School Lockdown Drill

Twice each school year a School Lockdown Drill is conducted by school administration/staff alongside Calgary Police Service (CPS) officers.  Our first drill is scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday, December 16, 2025.  This drill is ‘announced’ meaning students will have discussions with staff prior to the drill and will know (in advance) when the drill will take place.  After each drill, staff, students, and administration receive feedback from CPS officers, allowing our school to meaningfully debrief.

A School Lockdown is implemented to restrict the movement of all persons (placed in a secure location) within a school during a critical incident.  During such times it will not be possible to contact the school nor to enter the school.  Once our drill has officially concluded, we will ensure we check for visitors to the school.

Both on the home-front and on the school-front, it is natural for students to bring questions and potential worries to trusted adults.  We are providing this update to also allow you the opportunity to proactively check-in, knowing when this drill is conducted.

Reminder | no pick-up nor drop-off in CBE parking lots

A reminder that pick-up and drop-off is prohibited within CBE parking lots

  • including Queen Elizabeth School (K-6)
  • as well as Queen Elizabeth High School (7-12), next door.

Avoiding in-and-out vehicular traffic from either parking lot allows safety and security to be ensured both for young people as well as for staff.

Update | 2025-26 Assessment & Reporting Timeline

Students across the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) receive two digital report cards each school year through MyCBE.  CBE students will have their first report card for 2025-26 visible to parents/guardians and students on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
