Jeff Stockton| Oral Story Teller

Thanks to QEEPES funding, Jeff Stockton, oral story-teller, was here from November 20-23.  He taught us the value and magic of a story.  He shared the ways story can be shared orally and how historically, for many people, story has shaped culture.

Oral story-telling builds key literacy skills.  Learning to read and write are complex processes that can be depicted using the strands of a rope.  Through oral story-telling, children focus on key strands of literacy.  Listening to, developing and practicing oral stories advances skills to become both readers and writers.

As we blend the strands of the reading and writing ropes and enhance a sense of belonging for students at QES , we ask our students, what is your story?
