September 9, 2026
Hello, Wolfpack Families!
“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”
– Albert Camus
I trust everyone enjoyed a wonderful long weekend. As we move further into September, we encourage families to continue reviewing school information and updates and to save important dates in their calendars. These small steps help students arrive at school and classroom events prepared, confident, and ready to participate.
While Fall officially begins with the Autumnal Equinox on September 22, mornings are already feeling quite crisp. These early signs of autumn arrive just as our students are settling into the rhythms, routines, and relationships that make our school such a special place to learn and grow. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we begin yet another year together. We look forward to connecting with many of you over the coming weeks at Meet the Teacher, School Council, and other school events.
Your Proud Principal,
Travis Robertson
Upcoming | Universal Literacy and Numeracy Screeners
Beginning the week of September 14, students at Queen Elizabeth School will participate in universal literacy and numeracy screeners, which are part of a province-wide initiative through Alberta Education & Childcare. This round of Fall screener assessments will be for Grades 1-5 (inclusive) and will be completed by homeroom teachers.
These assessments help teachers identify students' strengths and learning needs early in the school year so that future instruction and supports are tailored appropriately. The screenings are one source of information among many that teachers use to understand student learning and guide classroom instruction. Families can learn more through the CBE's resource:
As further questions arise, please contact your child(ren)’s teacher(s).
Upcoming | Terry Fox Run/Walk
Last year, our school community went above and beyond our fundraising goal, raising an amazing $12,940.17! Thank you to everyone who helped make that possible. For 2026, our goal has been set at $13,587.00, and we would love your help in reaching it! We are a cash-free donation school, so please donate through:
Ms. Annie Little (PE) will continue to ensure celebration days as we work towards our goal!
Upcoming | CBE Caregiver Series
The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join a live online series on supporting child and youth well-being. The series is hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with local experts from the Calgary community.
These sessions are free and provide information, resources, helplines, and services to support healthy child and youth development.

Reminder | Volunteering (Annual Forms)
Come Volunteer with Us!
We welcome volunteers in the classroom, on field trips, and with certain tasks at school or at home. Certain activities or field trips would not be possible without the active participation of volunteers!
As a CBE volunteer, you are placed in a position of trust with students, staff or property. All adult volunteers require a valid security clearance - no exceptions. For parents interested in volunteering with their school, CBE covers the full cost of online security clearance applications only through a voucher system.
Volunteer Security Clearance Process
Step 1: Prospective volunteers must first register with the school where you plan to volunteer. This should be done through MyCBE by clicking on the Online Forms and School Registration tab and completing the annual Volunteer Registration form. You can also submit an application through the school office.
Community members who do not have a child registered with the CBE must complete their volunteer registration in person at the school where they wish to volunteer, rather than through the MyCBE website.
Annual Volunteer Registration
Each school year, you must complete the CBE volunteer registration form. By completing the form, you agree to abide by the conditions that protect the safety, confidentiality and working environment of CBE schools. You also make a signed declaration with regard to criminal charges.

Reminder | Grade 6 Vaccinations
To the parents and/or guardians of students in grade 6:
My name is Shannon and I will be your school nurse for the 2026/27 school year.
This is to inform you that your child will receive a package including information about the school immunization program as well as consent forms for all eligible immunizations. Please review all of the information in the consent package. Please return these forms to the school at your earliest convenience. Note that there is a section on the consent forms regarding health information, such as allergies and medical conditions. Please complete this thoroughly. If you choose to decline any vaccines, write ‘refused’ across each vaccine that is being declined, and continue to return these to the school, so that we are aware of your wishes.
The immunization team will be attending the school on December 9, 2026, and June 9, 2027, for Grade 6 students. There will be other opportunities throughout the school year if your child has been missed. This may be due to staff workload, illness, clarification needed on consent forms or other reasons that may be out of our control.
AHS Public Health will only be vaccinating those students whose parents have provided consent. Please note that COVID-19 and Flu vaccination are not being offered through the school immunization program.
For general information regarding the school immunization program please visit: www.ahs.ca/schoolvaccines
Thank you,
Shannon
