Hello, Wolfpack Families!
There is much to celebrate as we move through the final days of October! Students have thoroughly enjoyed learning through our Elev8 Lacrosse residency in Physical Education and our Beppie songwriting residency in Music. These opportunities help bring learning to life, encourage creativity, and allow students to discover new interests and talents.
As the weather becomes increasingly crisp and mornings grow darker, we encourage families to continue sending students with appropriate outdoor layers. This is also a good time to remind children about safe travel habits, including being visible to drivers, making eye contact before crossing, and ensuring traffic has come to a stop before proceeding.
As students arrive at and depart from school each day, please help us keep everyone safe by using designated crosswalks and encouraging children to do the same. These small habits help keep our community safe and model good pedestrian practices for our young learners.
Finally, thank you to everyone who attended School Council this week, including our Grade 6 teaching team representatives, and to all those who support our School Council and Parent Society throughout the year. Whether volunteering time, supporting events, fundraising, or sharing ideas, your contributions make a meaningful difference. We could not do this work alone, and your Wolfpack is grateful for your partnership and continued support.
Your Proud Principal,
Travis Robertson
Reports | Provincial Literacy and Numeracy Screeners
Families of students in Grades 1–5 will receive information about their child’s provincial literacy and numeracy screening results this week. These assessments help teachers identify students’ strengths and areas where additional support may be helpful.
- Monday, October 26: Watch for an email from the CBE explaining the assessments and how to interpret the reports.
- October 26–29: Students will bring home their assessment reports in an envelope. If you have questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
For more information about this assessment snapshot, visit the CBE Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting page.
Reminder | Off-Site Activities and Fee Payments
Wolfpack students enjoy many opportunities to learn beyond the four walls of a traditional classroom, including off-site field trips and multi-day field studies.
While most off-site activities are supported in part or in full by parents or guardians of participating students, no eligible student will be denied the opportunity to participate because of an inability to pay. We want and encourage full participation, regardless of a family’s current circumstances.
Our school works closely with the Parent Society through School Council to help keep trips affordable, including providing one free bus trip per homeroom each year, funded by the Parent Society. We also partner with the Parent Society to provide additional financial support when families are unable to make payments, either in full or in part.
MyCBE accepts both full and partial fee payments, allowing families to pay in installments if needed. If you would like to discuss fees further, including fee waivers or other financial assistance, please contact Mr. Robertson.
Optional | Friday, October 30
Students and staff are invited to wear costumes that allow for safe and free movement on Friday, October 30. Alternatively, students may wear orange or black.
Please remember the following costume guidelines:
- No masks.
- No weapons or weapon replicas.
- No costumes that impede safe movement on stairs, such as inflatable costumes.
If you are unsure whether a costume is appropriate, please check with your child’s teacher ahead of time.
Upcoming | Remembrance Day Ceremony
Remembrance Day will be observed at QES on the morning of Tuesday, November 10.
Due to very limited capacity in our gymnasium, we are unable to accommodate guests or parents at the assembly.
