Good morning, Queen Elizabeth School families—
The start of each school year is filled with so much promise! Once more, we look very forward to welcoming students to the 2025-26 school year on Tuesday, September 2.
Whether you are a returning student or are new to Queen Elizabeth School, we look forward to having you as a valued member of our incredible learning community.
The first stop for school information continues to be the school website. Our website can be found at:
- https://queenelizabeth.cbe.ab.ca/ (main site) and
- https://queenelizabeth.cbe.ab.ca/back-to-school (back-to-school page).
An e-mail will be received by parents/guardians on Friday, August 29 from each homeroom teacher welcoming each student to their classroom and new year.
Classes begin each school day at 8:45 AM with:
- ‘soft entry’ possible at 8:35 AM for grades 1-6, and
- ‘soft entry’ possible at 8:40 AM for AM kindergarten. Instructional time begins at 12:29 PM for our afternoon Kindergarten students. The Kindergarten doors will open at 12:24 PM. Please see the note from Ms. Shannon Neale about staggered start by surname for Tuesday, September 2.
On our first day of school, students will be greeted outdoors by staff. Dismissal is at 3:20 PM each Mon-Thur. and 12:37PM each Friday with exceptions for kindergarten. Lunchtime each day will run from 12:30 PM to 1:10 PM.
We would also like to remind QES families:
- Pick-up and drop-off are prohibited from Calgary Board of Education school parking lots. Students must not be picked-up nor dropped-off from QES nor QEHS parking lots.
- Our school has a video surveillance system to help maintain a safe and secure environment at the school for students, staff and the public, and to help address vandalism and criminal activity on school property.
The video surveillance system is installed and reviewed in accordance with Administrative Regulation 1066. Personal information is collected under the authority of the School Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) section 33.
This technology can be placed in areas such as the school parking lot, building entrances and exits, stairwells and hallways. This information is recorded and collected to help maintain a safe and secure environment in the school and on school property. The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.
Inquiries concerning the video surveillance system, or the collection and use of recorded information may be made by contacting the school office.
Also for your awareness, we would like to let you know that Mr. Dan Tinaburri has been working with the Alberta Motor Association (AMA) and Calgary Board of Education media relation teams to invite local news media to our school to feature our School Patrol team and processes on the morning of Tuesday, September 2. We are excited for this opportunity to showcase our Wolf Pack.
As our new school year takes further shape, I look forward to seeing what each of us will accomplish together within the weeks and months, ahead. Our incredible staff looks forward to working with our amazing community of parents and guardians, ensuring that every learner achieves success, and feels welcomed, cared for, respected, and safe within our school. Until then, we wish each of you a safe and enjoyable long weekend!
Kind regards,
Mr. Travis Robertson, Principal & Mr. Dan Tinaburri, Assistant Principal
