Family Literacy Week| QES

This week is Family Literacy Week!

What is literacy? Literacy is critical in helping us make sense of our world. From the time we wake up to the time we go to sleep, we are constantly making meaning of the world around us. (Alberta Education)

One lens through which teachers build reading skills is known as Scarborough’s Reading Rope.  Literacy is a blend of many skills that Scarborough describes using the analogy of the strands of a rope.   Families can read more about how many skills come together for reading fluency.
